HFNZ Position

We stand for freedom of choice for a range of non-toxic health modalities as well as allopathic medicine according to our free will. We recognize that the current practice of restricting access of natural health products gaining a reputation for having medicinal properties, therapeutic benefit or healing effects, needs to be abolished.

We do not accept that if a natural product gains therapeutic or medicinal reputation it should become reclassified as a toxic drug in need of regulating the same way as pharmaceutical drugs. Definition of medicinal: Something that treats or prevents or alleviates the symptoms of disease.  Synthetic drugs work in the body in a different manner from natural products and therefore require a different type of regulation.

Terminology

We do not accept bureaucrats, governments, or government agencies ownership of these terms: Medicine, medicinal, therapy, therapeutic, help, aid, treat or treatment.

We recognize that the Medicines Act of 1981 and it's Schedule 1 as it is applied to natural products is an attempt to create an unequal playing field in medicine in favour of foreign multi-national corporate interests (Big Pharma) by banning public access to safe natural medicines and truthful information about them.

We observe that Medsafe, operating under toxicological-based regulations, has abandoned the two most well know principles from Hippocrates, the father of Modern Medicine: "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" and "First, do no harm". We further acknowledge that our medical professionals no longer need to take the Hippocratic oath which was "First, do no harm".

We recognise that the restrictions imposed by Schedule 1 of the Medicines Act upon naturally occurring substances and harmless therapies is the cause of the current suppression of natural medicines and dietary supplements.

Regulation

We do not accept an agency that alignes toxic medicines with safe natural products under the joint name 'therapeutic products' or 'complimentary medicines'.  We further do not accept toxic medicines and natural products being regulated in favour of pharmaceutical corporate profit in the guise of Medsafe, ANZTPA, the TGA, or any other agency.

We state that regulating vital nutrients as drugs is completely insane. Nutrients are essential to life and the health of a human being and act very differently in the human body from symptom-suppressing synthetic medicines.

We do not accept the terminology "complimentary medicines" as applied to natural health products or therapies. They are the traditional apporach to healthcare used by humans for millenia and failure of the modern medical orthodox to recognise the importance that vital nutrients play in human health will, in the future, be considered one of the greatest healthcare failures in history.

Codex Alimentarius

We acknowledge that the Codex Alimentarius Commission, created in 1963 by FAO and WHO to develop food standards, guidelines and codes of practice has now become the greatest threat faced in the battle of personal health choice over economic interest.

We believe that Codex Alimentarius is a deceptive program overtaken by pharmaceutical and other multi-national industrial interests, with the agenda of indirectly undermining our sovereign Health Freedom laws in order to forcibly maintain a mass market for drugs, processed foods, and pesticides.

We observe that these processed foods and pesticides will perpetuate the need for healthcare and that Codex Alimentarius is in the process of removing competition to the pharmaceutical/allopathic option for that care.

We know that the Codex Alimentarius Vitamin and Mineral Guideline is unscientific since it erroneously classifies nutrients as toxins, and uses the incorrect science of toxicology to determine meaningless levels of micro-doses as “upper limits” on these essential substances.

We conclude that by seeking to quietly classify nutrients as toxins, the pharmaceutical industry is using the mantle of Codex Alimentarius to eliminate nutritional supplements and other natural health options from the marketplace under the deceptive veneer of “consumer protection”. We state that the concept of “consumer protection” is the “Great Fabrication” of Codex Alimentarius.

We believe that in the name of “international harmonization” Codex Alimentarius seeks to establish world domination of the food supply and natural health industry through the establishment of international trade treaties.

We understand that the existing rights of New Zealanders to Natural Health choices are under threat by the ANZTPA Treaty, Schedule 1 of the Medicines Act of 1981 and the Dietary Supplement Regulations of 1985 section on claims.

We believe the above mentioned are steps towards bringing New Zealand into alignment with the Codex Alimentarius Vitamin and Mineral Guideline (VMG), whose chairman has been quoted as saying, “nutrition is not relevant to health”.

We perceive that the power of the people to make informed natural health choices makes Codex Alimentarius vulnerable and we urge Members of Parliament to refrain from supporting Codex Alimentarius, ANZTPA and anti-natural products bills.

Sovereignty

We urge Members of Parliament to become fully informd on these important issues and support pro Health Freedom bills; if they ignore our collective voice it is at the peril of the health of the nation.

We demand individual sovereignty over our bodies and our health.  We demand national sovereignty in legislation and regulation.

We support a stand alone natural products regulatory system that is sensible, protects consumer freedom of choice and provides an environment for local industry to prosper.  We demand this agency be designed by New Zealanders, for New Zealanders and operated by New Zealanders.

We envision a Natural Health Products Ministry and bureaucracy that is separate and independent from the current toxicologically based "Health" Ministry and Bureaucracy; a Ministry that is transparent and accountable to the public for its actions.
